Discover a senior residence that’s remarkably different, yet feels comfortably familiar

CHGIspringplanting-228wAn easy drive from San Francisco, Tracy is a fast-growing Central Valley community that’s nestled in the “triangle” formed by Interstate 205 on the north, Interstate 5 to the east, and and Interstate 580 to the southwest. It has the friendly feel of a small town, with a quaint downtown and vibrant arts and entertainment scene. Tracy is a great place to live and raise a family.

And in 2006, it was the perfect place to build Agemark’s first Astoria Senior Living, uniquely designed with smaller neighborhoods to fit individual preferences and needs.

The Mediterranean-style residence fits right into the residential neighborhood on the corner of Lowell and Corral Hollow. Merrill F. West High School is just across the street, which supplies an abundance of energetic student volunteers who love spending time with the residents.

Services in the area include a pharmacy, shopping and banks, and the West Valley Mall is not too far away.

Three neighborhoods create distinctive options

There are two buildings on the Astoria campus in Tracy. Each one is surrounded by gardens and small patios where residents enjoy fresh air and sunshine.

A clock tower distinguishes the main building, which is home to Astoria Place for assisted living and The Gardens for Alzheimer’s and memory care. The Villa is Astoria’s most intimate neighborhood, where just twelve residents live in a separate, cottage-style house.

Each neighborhood has its own rate schedule, with both private and companion suite options. Services and features are carefully planned to match the particular needs of the residents in each neighborhood.

Surprising amenities around every corner

A saltwater aquarium, fireplace lounges, a snack bar and even a putting green… Take a stroll through our neighborhoods to discover these special features and so much more.

Outstanding service extends to families

Our residents receive the very best of care, but what truly sets Astoria apart from all the other senior living alternatives is what we do for our families.

We understand that families often want to care for their loved one themselves, and may feel guilty if career, children or environment makes home care an untenable or unsafe solution.

And for those whose loved one has Alzheimer’s, it’s often harder on the family than it is on the one afflicted. It’s heartbreaking to watch the disease progress; it’s difficult for roles to change and to become a stranger to someone you love.

For these reasons, Astoria is committed to serving the family as well as the resident.

Educational resources are available to Astoria families. There are also special speakers and programs, plus many Family Traditions events are planned throughout the year. Memories are made at our annual Mother’s Day Tea, Grandparents Day Celebration, and Thanksgiving Feast. Staff, residents and families participate in the Fourth of July Parade every year — when Astoria’s entry usually wins the first place trophy — followed by a big BBQ back at Astoria.

For those who are dealing with Alzheimer’s, our caregiver support group is open to the public and meets on the 4th Thursday of every month. It’s an informal group, giving participants the opportunity to talk to other families in similar situations… or to just listen. Complimentary care is available for those who cannot leave a loved one at home to attend; please call 209.833.2200 for more information.

Our grief support group meets on the 2nd Tuesday, and just for fun, Bunco Night is on the 3rd Monday of the month.

Through these activities, events and services, families have more opportunities to enjoy and appreciate each other. And by letting Astoria worry about providing day-to-day care to their loved one, they’re free to focus on spending quality time together.
